• Greater Philadelphia had the 4th-highest concentration ratio for financial activities employment among the nation’s largest metro areas in 2010.

Business, management, marketing and related fields were the top areas of study in Greater Philadelphia’s colleges and universities, ensuring the sector a well-educated workforce. In 2008/09, the region’s schools awarded 15,312 certificates and degrees in these fields, 18.3% of the total.

According to the FDIC, the region’s banks had total deposits of $379.8 billion at the end of June 2010. An additional $2.2 trillion in assets was under management by the region’s largest investment and mutual fund companies at the end of 2010.
